Well, hey. Looks like I'm gonna be your warden. [She sounds like she's flipping though papers.] And you got a rap sheet a mile long.

[The sad thing is, she knows that there are people here ten times worse than her and they got warden items. How is supposed to go up against that?]

Well, I can come by your room or you can come by mine.

The little mean one? Oh, I'd like to see some of the bigwigs I was in the pen with try and pull something with that one. They'd end up with worse than black and blue shins.

Alright, give me a few minutes. [She'll wait to ask before she ever puts a seal on her door. She figures it'll be too weird now, and Sophie's still having to drag herself through weird.

And it's not too long before Sophie's getting a knock at her door, Jeryline vaguely eyeing the doors on either side of Sophie's and wondering which one has Arya.]

I'd like to know what she did. [ Mean or not she's still a child

After the knock at the door Jeryline's left waiting for a couple of minutes before Sophie opens the door, making sure a) her room is presentable enough to her standards, b) she has an exit (which she doesn't, but she always checks) and c) she can do this. Jeryline is nice, but there's a difference between someone that's nice and this "Warden" concept, and Sophie's possibly not ready enough in her "this may be real" to be okay with that. With that, with the fact that she's here until someone decides she's "ready" to leave and to get back to her life. And then what? If she's supposed to change something to leave what does her life mean then?

When Sophie's finished dathering she prepares her smile, one that is practiced enough from her grifting to look real, to look pleasant and to be natural and normal. To be everything that this isn't ]

Jeryline. [ The smile is there, with accompanying warmth in her voice as Sophie pulls back the door, stepping back to let her come in ] I haven't managed to do much with it yet.

[Jeryline's demeanor remains, in a word, "loose". She easily offers up the hunk of a file as she comes in, complete with stuff the Admiral shouldn't know, and gives Sophie a wry grin.]

It's classier than mine. I still have my place from the inn. [Or rather, she has it again. Posters and all, even down to the teddy bear on the bed.] I'll be honest, it's a lot of shit but most of it isn't as bad as some I've seen. Even what I've seen some people here get away with.

[She comes in and has a look around.]

[ A teddy bear on the bed, now that's something Sophie hasn't done, or had in quite a long time - home comforts. She picks up and moves too often, never sitting down for a life. Minus the homes that she board around the globe, anyway ]

I'd tell that to the Admiral. [ Because really, she was only a thief, if there were people worse than her here then why waste their time on her? ] So. What's your plan, then?

It's not that bad, but I still went to prison for stealin'. [And what she had done wasn't that bad, either. Not in her eyes. It was just enough to make due with being on the streets.] That's eventually where you could go, and with a stack of charges like this against you, you could get stuck there for a long time. [And she really hated it there.]

So I guess work release. That's what helped me- less for the actual work, and more for getting to know people. Maybe the pub if you're into it, that doesn't seem like too much work.

[And she sits down.] Why do you do this in particular? It seems like you got more talent than to be wasted on some asshole. Or where only where this one asshole can see it. I won't say it's spent too badly. [The other people in this file seem pretty big douchebags.]

I could. [ But she won't, Sophie's confident about that. Oh, she's been caught before but it didn't stick, and then there's Sterling. She's not that worried - she worries over bigger things than that

She didn't make a comment over the work release part, Jeryline's question following being more important (and besides, if she insisted it didn't sound the worst thing ever - Sophie did like people) ]

You should get to know him. [ Nate, she meant. He could be an ass, but he was the good one of them - honest. Their white knight ] Why did you steal? [ It's an honest question, and even if the reasons are no doubt not the same they both still went there ] I like art. [ It started that way, anyway ]

I mean the guy you're robbin'. I mean, they do sound like assholes, but they're ones that I would rather see ending up in places like I was in.

[She looks a little disappointed, though.] I was on the street. Stealin' meant a warm bed instead of someone's thrown out mattress in an abandoned house.

Maybe one day you'll get your wish. [ Or not, if they weren't already here, or in jail. But most of them got there eventually, with some help ]

It's a good reason. [ A very good one. It was more Parker, steal to survive, to get what you need ]

Maybe. If I get my deal, I can at least feel a little better about people tryin' to come after me. This? [She holds up the key around her neck] won't matter so much anymore. There's six more of them already collected and if I break up the mess of them again, then it'll be a lot harder to get them all into one place.
